Germany, Hitler, Universal Health care... lie by AtheosEmanon Germany, Hitler, Universal Health care... lie by AtheosEmanon
A republican group on facebook posted this picture

Here

Germany got universal health care from its Health Insurance Bill of 1883, HITLER WAS BORN IN 1889...!!!

So please republicans, if you have a legitimate beef with the universal coverage, okay, that is one thing, but do not LIE and say Hitler gave Germany universal health care when Hitler was NOT EVEN BORN when Germany got universal health care, I COMMEND Germany for having the oldest universal health coverage than any other country in Europe, SO PLEASE Republicans, stop trying to tie the great system to Hitler, a system that, as stated, was implemented BEFORE HITLER WAS EVEN BORN.

There is absolutely NO CONNECTION, between Germany having universal health care, and genocides that occurred under Hitler; it is just another Republican attempt to rewrite history and another attempt to make anything "German... " be tied to Hitler. The notion that the genocides were to pay for the health care system is absurd as much as it is ludicrous and shows a deep ignorance of history….

What troubled me more is, if you read the comments, there are literally dozens of people who believe that Obama is just like Hitler and that health care will lead to genocide… really?

Another European the right loves is Churchill..

the man who said
"The discoveries of healing science must be the inheritance of all. That is clear. Disease must be attacked, whether it occurs in the poorest or the richest man or woman simply on the ground that it is the enemy; and it must be attacked just in the same way as the fire brigade will give its full assistance to the humblest cottage as readily as to the most important mansion. Our policy is to create a national health service in order to ensure that everybody in the country, irrespective of means, age, sex, or occupation, shall have equal opportunities to benefit from the best and most up-to-date medical and allied services available."

Winston Churchill
March 2, 1944

... so basically Republicans favorite Brit was for a universal health system, and their favorite boogy man had nothing to do with Germany's health care? fun stuff..

..goes back to my liberal, progressive, democratic socialist cave.

As always comrades,
Let knowledge be that truth, which portrays humanity, condemns malevolence; that respects the differences in others while abandoning the hatred and misconceptions of the past.

Lol I'm noticing how some Americans use Hitler and/or Nazi stuff for a lot of things, be it for random villains in movies (like Indiana Jones) or other things that make no sense. But I didn't know they said Health Insurance was Hitler's idea too- and only because they don't like Health Insurance. Wow. I don't like Brussel sprouts but I don't go out yelling they're from Hitler.

I bet these people are still driving their Volkswagen without looking at THAT history and facts for once. They'd probably get a heart attack if they knew they're driving a car which, originally, Hitler and his party wished to have invented and built for his people so everyone could afford to have a car, even the Germans which didn't have much money (a car was an expensive thing back then). If you need the article, there you go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswag…

But, but.. towards the end of his life he pretty much a vegetarian diet.. SURELY that means that all vegetation is Hitler-esque.. right? [just kidding of course]

But yes, in America when the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" the health care reform done under this administration you saw plenty of people who are opposed to the law start saying HITLER STARTED THE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM SO HE COULD CATALOG PEOPLE HE WOULD KILL!!.. even though Germany had its universal coverage even before Hitler was born so it made/makes no sense at all.

Sh, if you tell them that .. they will find some way to justify their love of the car!

I think the ACA is a better system than the system America had - - but it is in no way perfect - - and would not be my ideal health care system..

I am unsure if you mean the insurance or delivery system, with a single payer system I would have no issue with that since that is more so the insurance, and many of the doctors may work in a public hospitals, but many are private as well  - - but many of those countries also have private options as well .. I would have no general issue with that ... you should not have to put off a needed heart surgery because you will go bankrupt if you have the surgery ..

I am aware, but for some reason the conservative Republicans think Hitler started Germany's health system so he would get the records and start a "kill list".

He wouldn't have necessarily needed that health care system to do so.

But, hey, Republicans.

Please, sir..  we are speaking of conservative Republicans, since the days of Goldwater they have stopped their need for facts for their arguments

[oh how I laugh that even big libertarian conservative Republican goldwater, before his death his last endorsement was a pretty liberal democrat.. even he said the GOP had lost its way]

Yes, I am aware... I am a bit unsure as to what that tidbit has to do with Germany getting universal coverage before Hitler's birth [since WWI nor his military service was never brought up in the piece]

The stamp says that Germany got universal healthcare before Hitler was born .. a conservative Republican group on facebook claimed that Hitler started Universal healthcare in Germany... so  he could then use those records to decide who he would have killed.. which as I am sure you know is a lie.

Once Hitler rose to power and the Nazi party became the ruling party, Hitler and the Gestapo had access to every citizens records. They could check the genealogy and see if they where gay/Jewish/gypsy/communist/ect.

As much as I like the point of this stamp I feel like some of it is lost due to the arrangement of the text over the flag. The yellow stripe near the bottom makes it hard to actually read what you've written because the white blends into it so easily.

Thanks for the fave of [link] and the watch.

Yeah I was thinking about that but in the end, I wanted to use the German Flag and since the white is readable, compared to the black I could have used which would not be seen on the black, nor the red on the red... I did not wish to use blue .. and so I chose to use white.

By them using Hitler as a scare tactic, they are wearing down the impact of what he did. That is what pisses me off. Eventually people will be immune to those calls and so if someone really pulls it, it would be like the boy who cried wolf. Republicans, way to prove what I always knew about them.

As a comment said below, just one young turk. When Health care passed, the National Republican Congressional Committee posted link to a youtube video on their twitter of Hitler saying he is proud Nancy Pelosi agreed with him... after EVEN SOME REPUBLICANS were outraged at the post they deleted the post and apologized saying it was in poor taste.. well duh, comparing someone who you disagree with to hitler is always poor taste...

I agree with you, but I generally do not try to call an argument stupid because there are Hitler comparisons that can be made to non-Nazi people, Stalin for one, also purged people, some Jews, and systematically killed particular groups.. so that is a comparison as in who killed more, why, etc etc .. but I have seen no modern US president that would warrant such a comparison.

To be compared to Hitler, you have to actually be on Hitler's level. Like Stalin, or Pol Pot. I am equally disgusted with those who made Bush portraits with a Hitler mustache as I am with the ones who do the same to Obama.

These Hitler comparisons are ridiculous: as if anything Hitler did is now supposed to be intrinsically bad? Hitler also had a girlfriend, so is having a girlfriend supposed to be quasi-fascist by default, as well? He ate food, so is food tyrannical? Most crucially, he maintained a huge military and waged unprovoked wars with it, so what of the Republican's own beloved military spending and war-waging? :)

According to them it would seem so; I wish I could say that I was surprised by their actions but I am not. I am not saying they were the only ones doing this, I mean some on the left compared Bush to Hitler which I also thought was stupid but when it is elected officials doing it and I am sure they have the staff to understand and quickly look up when Germany got health insurance.. just makes themselves look like idiot.
