Germany, Hitler, Universal Health care... lie by AtheosEmanon Germany, Hitler, Universal Health care... lie by AtheosEmanon
A republican group on facebook posted this picture

Germany got universal health care from its Health Insurance Bill of 1883, HITLER WAS BORN IN 1889...!!!

So please republicans, if you have a legitimate beef with the universal coverage, okay, that is one thing, but do not LIE and say Hitler gave Germany universal health care when Hitler was NOT EVEN BORN when Germany got universal health care, I COMMEND Germany for having the oldest universal health coverage than any other country in Europe, SO PLEASE Republicans, stop trying to tie the great system to Hitler, a system that, as stated, was implemented BEFORE HITLER WAS EVEN BORN.

There is absolutely NO CONNECTION, between Germany having universal health care, and genocides that occurred under Hitler; it is just another Republican attempt to rewrite history and another attempt to make anything "German... " be tied to Hitler. The notion that the genocides were to pay for the health care system is absurd as much as it is ludicrous and shows a deep ignorance of history….

What troubled me more is, if you read the comments, there are literally dozens of people who believe that Obama is just like Hitler and that health care will lead to genocide… really?

Another European the right loves is Churchill..

the man who said
"The discoveries of healing science must be the inheritance of all. That is clear. Disease must be attacked, whether it occurs in the poorest or the richest man or woman simply on the ground that it is the enemy; and it must be attacked just in the same way as the fire brigade will give its full assistance to the humblest cottage as readily as to the most important mansion. Our policy is to create a national health service in order to ensure that everybody in the country, irrespective of means, age, sex, or occupation, shall have equal opportunities to benefit from the best and most up-to-date medical and allied services available."

Winston Churchill
March 2, 1944

... so basically Republicans favorite Brit was for a universal health system, and their favorite boogy man had nothing to do with Germany's health care? fun stuff..

..goes back to my liberal, progressive, democratic socialist cave.

As always comrades,
Let knowledge be that truth, which portrays humanity, condemns malevolence; that respects the differences in others while abandoning the hatred and misconceptions of the past.

Lol I'm noticing how some Americans use Hitler and/or Nazi stuff for a lot of things, be it for random villains in movies (like Indiana Jones) or other things that make no sense. But I didn't know they said Health Insurance was Hitler's idea too- and only because they don't like Health Insurance. Wow. I don't like Brussel sprouts but I don't go out yelling they're from Hitler.

I bet these people are still driving their Volkswagen without looking at THAT history and facts for once. They'd probably get a heart attack if they knew they're driving a car which, originally, Hitler and his party wished to have invented and built for his people so everyone could afford to have a car, even the Germans which didn't have much money (a car was an expensive thing back then). If you need the article, there you go: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswag…

But, but.. towards the end of his life he pretty much a vegetarian diet.. SURELY that means that all vegetation is Hitler-esque.. right? [just kidding of course]

But yes, in America when the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" the health care reform done under this administration you saw plenty of people who are opposed to the law start saying HITLER STARTED THE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM SO HE COULD CATALOG PEOPLE HE WOULD KILL!!.. even though Germany had its universal coverage even before Hitler was born so it made/makes no sense at all.

Sh, if you tell them that .. they will find some way to justify their love of the car!

I think the ACA is a better system than the system America had - - but it is in no way perfect - - and would not be my ideal health care system..

 Healthcare is one of the systems, like prison, like education that I do not think should be a for profit system for a basic system.

I am unsure if you mean the insurance or delivery system, with a single payer system I would have no issue with that since that is more so the insurance, and many of the doctors may work in a public hospitals, but many are private as well  - - but many of those countries also have private options as well .. I would have no general issue with that ... you should not have to put off a needed heart surgery because you will go bankrupt if you have the surgery ..
